KEY DEFINITIONS
Clipboard: A location where cut or copied material is temporarily stored. This material
can be transferred to other documents or files by using the paste command.
Copy: A command that duplicates selected data (e.g., text, graphics, folders,
documents) and stores it in the clipboard. This data can then be placed in another
location or document.
Cursor: An indicator that identifies where the next character that is typed will be
displayed (insertion point) and the current screen location of the mouse pointer.

Cut: A command that removes selected data (e.g., text, graphics, folders, documents)
and stores it in the clipboard. This data can then be placed in another location or
document.
Paste: A command that moves copied material from the clipboard to a user-determined
location in a document. Copied content can be pasted with or without text formatting.
Undo: A command that removes the last update or change made to a document,
spreadsheet, presentation, or database.

Open a document in Microsoft Word and experiment with the Clipboard Pane:
From the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the small button in the lower right corner
Copy or cut items from the document
Select particular items from the Clipboard and paste them at the current insertion point
Practice using different text selection methods, in addition to clicking and dragging over text:
Double-click a word or triple-click a paragraph
Click or double-click in the left margin
Press the Shift key and then click to select a portion of text
Select a word, press the Ctrl key, and then select another word
Press Ctrl + A to select the entire document
