• Population distribution is like drawing a map that shows where people live on Earth and if they are spread out or packed together.

• Some places, like big cities, have lots of people and are called densely populated.

• Other places, like deserts or the North Pole, have very few people and are sparsely populated.

• People are concentrated in river valleys and plains where the soil is fertile, rainfall is plentiful and climate is suitable.

  • Around 80 percent of the world's population lives within 60 miles of the ocean coast where the climate is suitable.

  • Many people live in places where natural resources are available.

​Where do people live?​

• Immigration is the movement of people from one place to another either permanently or temporarily.

• To Immigrate Permanently means to move to a new country and reside there indefinitely.

• Immigration temporarily refers to the temporary migration of individuals from one country to another for a limited period, with the intention of returning to their country of origin.
