We have learned the basic elements of arts. This is because shapes and forms we see around can be derived from lines. Shapes are outlines or characteristic configuration of a thing or a form. Shapes are two-dimensional, while forms are three-dimensional.

Shapes and forms can be formed anywhere, in or outside of the school. There are shapes and forms that are used in mathematics such as squares, circles, rectangles, triangles
and more. These are
geometric figures.

There are also shapes and forms which you find in nature. Shapes and forms which found in plants, animals and clouds, ocean, and land called
natural figures.

Shapes and forms drawn in the pictures by an artist using free hand style are called free forms. They are so called because they are mere products of imaginations of the artist or are mere interpretations of the viewer.
