To explain the meaning of Yawm al-Hashr (The Day of Gathering), describe what will happen on that day, and understand why it is called “the Day of Gathering.”

• Day of Gathering (Yawmu l-Jam’i):  This is the day when all creatures will be gathered for judgment.

• Place of Gathering: The land of Ash-Sham is designated as the place where the gathering will take place.

• Types of Gathering: There are two types: gathering all creatures and gathering to their final destination (Hell or Paradise).

• Importance of Belief: Believing in the Day of Gathering is compulsory (fard) in Islam and is one of the six pillars of Iman.

• Deeds for Safety: Certain deeds can protect individuals and ensure they are under Allah’s shade, such as being a just ruler or a youth who worships Allah.

And there is no creature on [or within] the earth
or bird that flies with its wings except [that they
are] communities like you. We have not neglected
in the Register a thing. Then unto their Lord they
will be gathered.

From the Hadith

The Prophet described to us what will happen, he said: “You will
be gathered, barefooted, naked, and uncircumcised (as God says):“As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it.” (Quran
21:104)
