Day of the Dead Assignment

We are going to have our own
celebration of this day, and in our
English class, we are going to
celebrate the legacy of some of the
most important POETS who have ever
lived. There are many living poets that
are breathtakingly talented, but in
honor of this holiday, we will be taking
a moment to research the lives,
legacies, and poetry that made these
poets so influential in the history of
poetry.

Stages of Assignment

Stage One:

Select a poet.
This poet you may have heard of
before or perhaps never heard of in
your life. Either way, it’s okay! The
goal of this project is to practice
researching, so you’ll be learning a
lot of information either way.

Stage Two.

Research your chosen
poet.
Using the graphic organizer, start
your search and record the
information. You must use at least
TWO databases and read through at
least two different articles. You
must also locate at least two of the
most famous works (poems)
written by that poet. You MAY use a
generic Google search to locate
these two poems.

Stage Three:

Create your final
product for display.
Now, it’s time to create the final
product for submission! You will
receive an electronic and hard
copy. For your project, please
make sure that your final “poster” is
colorful and neatly done. You
should include all of the
information on the handout and be
prepared to share it with the class.
