Gramática

Adjectives

Adjectives are words that are used to describe people and things.  In Spanish, the adjective has more than one spelling.  It will change it's spelling to match with the gender and number of the word it's describing.

In short, when describing a male, the adjective usually ends in -o;

when describing a female, the adjective usually ends in -a.
If the adjective ends in another letter, there is no change.

Gramática

The verb ser

The verb ser changes forms depending on the subject...

yo soy = I am
tú eres = you are (informal)
Ud. es = you are (formal)
él es = he is
ella es = she

Spanish will often omit the pronoun and use the verb alone. It does NOT change the meaning of the word.
Yo soy alto. = Soy alto.

Notice the word order difference. In a negative sentence, the "no" will come before the verb.
Yo no soy cubano. No soy cubano.
