-A phrase cannot make meaning on its own.

A Prepositional phrase contains the following:
1. Preposition

3. Modifier of the noun/pronoun

There are two types of prepositional phrases:
1. Adjective phrases.
2. Adverb phrases.

Prepositional Phrases: Adjective Phrases

-When a prepositional phrase functions as an adjective it modifies a noun or a pronoun.
-An adjective phrase gives us more information about a noun or pronoun.
-An adjective phrase always comes immediately after the noun or pronoun it modifies.
Example:
She greeted the man
on her left.
Alvaro visited the building
across the street.

Prepositional Phrases: Adverb Phrases

-When prepositional phrases function as adverbs they modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs.
