El voleibol

Volleyball (el voleibol) is similar to tennis.  It is also played on a court (una cancha)  with a ball (un balón).  A player serves (sirve) the ball and it must pass over (por encima de) the net (la red) where another player returns (devuelve) it.  To score, the ball touches the floor (el suelo) of the opposing side.

Servir (to serve) is a stem-change verb (e--i) in the present tense. It's a boot verb.
In the preterit tense, it also has a stem-change verb (e-i), but only in the 3rd person singular & plural forms.

In the preterit tense, it is also irregular. The stem is hic (not hac) and the él form changes from c--z.
