Once upon a time, there was a Line names Liney, who was renowned for their infinitely long line. Liney was somewhat of a celebrity since their line went onto infinity in both sides, no one has ever seen the ends of liney.
Definition 1:
A line goes onto infinity on both ends
3
With Liney were their 2 best friends: Point A and Point B. They were inseparable, friends forever.
Definition 2:
A Point is an exact location in a space or plane. Represented by a Capital Letter
Fact 1:
There are exactly 2 unique points in every line, meaning no 2+ lines have the exact same 2 points (may share 1 point but not 2)
4
However, not everyone was a fan of Liney. Curve was a jealous circle, envious of how Liney can go on forever. So one night, Curve planned to battle Liney and try to shorten them!
5
Curve decided to battle at Point A. Liney and Point A fought hard, but ultimately, Curve had the upper hand and cut the line after Point A off, so now everyone could see the liney could only go to infinity on one side
Definition 3:
A ray is a line that has a start point and goes through the second point into infinity.
Represented by [AB (The square bracket means the line starts at point A)
6
Although cannot be known as the line that goes onto infinity on both sides, people still loved Liney for having one infinite side, still receiving fame across the country.
This infuriated Curve, so he decided to end it once and for all!!
7
One night, curve decided to sneak up on Liney, and with one sudden swoop, took Lineys second infinite side, meaning there was no Line after Point B either. This shocked Liney, who soon realised his fame would now be over.
Definition 4:
A Line segment is a line with a start AND an end point. Represented by [AB]
Fact 2:
The Line Segment is the smallest line between any 2 given points
8
Soon, Liney was now unknown to anyone, and this made them extremely sad! Point A and B didn't like seeing Liney like this, so they decided to get help from their old friend, Point C, who was right in the middle of both of them!
Definition 5:
A midpoint is a point that is directly in the middle of 2 given points
Fun Fact:
Where was Point C during Liney's ambush????
9
The 3 soon discussed plans to get revenge on Curve, and to get Liney their infinite sides back!!
10
With their new plan of taking the lines back by ambush, similar to what curve did to them, they passed this onto Liney, who was apprehensive at first, but ultimately agreed to get their fame back, and so, the plan began!!
