Finding the MMMR, Quartiles & IQR
Work through the slides to find each value!

2
Finding the "Mean"
"Mean" is just another word for average
To find the mean, add all the numbers in your data and divide the sum by the total number of numbers
3
Multiple Choice
What is the mean of the following data? Round to the nearest tenth
1, 7, 5, 2, 3, 8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 1

4
Finding the "Median"
The median is the "middle" number in the data
To find the median, order the numbers from least to greatest
Count down until you have a single middle number
If you have two middle numbers, find the mean of those numbers
5
Multiple Choice
What is the median of the following data?

Finding the "Range"
The range is the difference between your biggest value and smallest value.
To find the range, you subtract your smallest value from your biggest value
9
Multiple Choice
Find the range of the follwoing data

Finding Quartile 1 (Q1)
Find the median (Q2) first. If there is one number in the middle, DO NOT use it to find your quartiles!
Once the median is found, find the median of the first half of data.
The second median you find is your Q1 value.
11
Multiple Choice
Find the Q1 value of the following data
1, 7, 5, 2, 3, 8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 1

Finding Quartile 3 (Q3)
Find the median (Q2) first. If there is one number in the middle, DO NOT use it to find your quartiles!
Once the median is found, find the median of the second half of data.
The third median you find is your Q3 value.
13
Multiple Choice
