Noun (plural)

Kata benda bersifat jamak jika mewakili dua orang atau lebih, tempat, benda, atau gagasan. Anda dapat mengidentifikasi sebagian besar kata benda jamak karena berakhiran –s atau –es. Namun demikian ada banyak pengecualian.

If the singular noun ends in –s, –ss, –sh, –ch, –x, or –z, you usually add -es to the end to make it plural.

iris – irises

Noun (plural) rules

For most nouns that end with –f or –ef, you add an –s to form the plural version. Be aware of exceptions, however. For some nouns ending this way, you must change the –f or –ef to –ve before adding the –s.

This dan That 

This dan That digunakan untuk menunjuk objek yang berjumlah satu/tunggal.

This artinya “ini”.

Kata ini digunakan untuk menunjuk benda tunggal yang posisinya terletak di dekat kita dan terkadang di dekat lawan bicara kita juga.

 

That artinya “itu”.

Berbeda dengan this kata ini digunakan sebagai penunjuk kata benda tunggal yang posisinya jauh dengan kita.

These dan Those 

Sementara itu, These memilki arti "ini" dan Those memiliki arti "itu" .

These dan Those digunakan untuk menunjukkan objek plural, atau jumlahnya lebih dari satu.

Kita bisa gunakan these ketika objek yang dibicarakan dekat dengan pembicara, dan those ketika objeknya jauh dari pembicara. 

Selain sebagai demonstrative adjectives (determiner untuk menerangkan kata benda), this, that, these, dan those juga merupakan demonstrative pronoun yang fungsinya menggantikan kata benda. Arti dan jaraknya masih sama.
