Present Simple: vienkāršā tagadne.

Ar vietniekvārdiem I, you, we, they apgalvojuma teikumos mēs izmantojam darbības vārdus sākotnējā formā (bez galotnēm). Piem., "I speak English" ("es runāju angliski").

Ar vietniekvārdiem he, she, it apgalvojuma teikumos darbības vārdiem ir "s" galotne. Piem., "She speaks English" ("viņa runā angliski").

Apgalvojuma teikumi.

Ar vietniekvārdiem I, you, we, they nolieguma teikumos mēs izmantojam "don't" (tas ir saīsinājums no "do not") un darbības vārdu sākotnējā formā (bez galotnes). Piem., "you don't work here" ("tu šeit nestrādā").

Ar vietniekvārdiem he, she, it ir jāizmanto "doesn't" un darbības vārdu bez galotnes. "He doesn't work here" = "viņš šeit nestrādā".
