People often own a wide range of shoes for different climates and occasions. Two popular kinds of shoes are sandals and boots. Both can be made of different materials, such as fabric or leather. Boots cover the entire foot and may cover part of the calf or lower leg as well. Sandals, on the other hand, leave portions of the foot (often the toes and heel) exposed. Boots are well suited for colder temperatures or potentially dangerous work environments. Sandals are best suited for warmer temperatures and are not well suited for work environments where the wearer may be lifting or moving objects that could be dropped.

As most residents know, Pleasantville has an ongoing problem with parking in the downtown area. At peak times, such as weekday evenings and weekend afternoons, potential customers end up circling the business district looking for parking. The city council has introduced two measures to address this problem. First, the site of the old public swimming pool (which has not been used for more than a decade) will be filled and reclaimed as free municipal parking. Second, plans are being undertaken to convert an abandoned warehouse on Bond Street to an indoor parking garage. It is the Council’s hope that residents and customers will begin to see some relief from the parking problem in as little as six months from now.

New video games are released every week. Some grow into a national phenomenon and have millions of loyal fans. Other languish on store shelves, snatched up by a few customers but never get wide attention. There are several reasons why some games become popular. First, games within a well-known series or franchise are most likely to become popular. Players know the characters and the game and are eager to continue the adventure. Second, a familiar and easy-to-learn playing platform will make a new game more popular, as will strong graphics and the ability to play online or with other players.

Despite the fact that this area has an extensive public transportation system, including hundreds of buses and a regular train service, many commuters still choose to drive their own cars. Researchers have identified several reasons. First, the buses that run during the peak commuting hours are notoriously unreliable and are, on average, fifteen to twenty minutes behind schedule. When buses do not run on time, commuters cannot catch connections and are, as a result, often late for work. Second, the train system does have a schedule that is compatible with most commuters. There are fewer trains between 7 AM and 9 AM than at any other time of the day, which means commuters who do try to take the train face crowded cars and an uncomfortable ride.

What type of text structure is written below?
After Christmas every year, thousands of people discard Christmas trees and expect that their local garbage collectors will take them. This puts undue burden on the collectors because the trees are bulky and take up a lot of space in their trucks, often requiring them to make multiple trips to service a route that generally takes just one trip. To alleviate the burden of this mass-discarding of trees, Newtown has established the following new ordinance. Christmas trees will be picked up on Wednesdays only, for each of the three weeks immediately following Christmas. If a resident wants to discard a tree after the third week, he or she must bring it to the landfill in person.

Have you ever tried to build a snowman and failed? The science of snowman construction is actually more complicated than it may seem at first. The most important first step is to wait until conditions are just right. You'll want the snow to be close to 30 degrees Fahrenheit (-1 degree Celsius) with just a little bit of moisture in it. You'll know if the temperature is too high, as the snow will be very wet and weak. If the snow is too dry, it will be too powdery to form stable snowballs. Once you have the perfect snow, choose an appropriate location to build your snowman where it will last longer than a few hours. Try to find a place away from hills and out of the wind. Finally, build your snowman using these size guidelines: 3 feet in diameter for the foundation, 2 feet in diameter for the torso, and 1 foot in diameter for the head. Once you master the science of building a snowman, you'll be ready to tackle the art of dressing him.
