The simple past tense is a verb form used to refer to an action or series of actions that were completed in the past. The simple past tense of regular verbs is formed by adding “-ed” to the infinitive form of the verb. Irregular verbs don’t follow a specific pattern: some take the same form as the infinitive (e.g., “put”), while others change completely (e.g., “go” becomes “went”).

​You always use the simple past when you say when something happened, so it is associated with certain past time expressions.

a definite point in time: last week, when I was a child, yesterday, six weeks ago
We saw a good film last week.
an indefinite point in time: the other day, ages ago, a long time ago

​in simple past tense, there are two formula namely verbal sentence and nominal sentence.
in verbal sentence the structure using verb 2, however for nominal sentence the structure not use verb but using to be such as was/were.
