What are Text Structures?

​Have you ever noticed how stories are written?

Think about what the word structure means----it means pattern or organization of something.

A text structure is just how a story/text is organized!!!

There are 5 different types of text structures.

Realizing how a text is structured can help us understand what is going on in the text. It also helps us understand an author's purpose in writing it.

​Clue Words!

Each text structure has its own "Clue Words" to help us figure out what type of text it is.

It is important we learn these Clue Words to help us out!

for example, for instance, such as, looks like....

Simply "describes" a topic or issue.
