Touch Typing Technique

What is Touch Typing?

It is the typing process where keys are identified by touch rather than by sight, and pressed accordingly. Touch typists use all of their fingers to type as opposed to the 'hunt-and-peck' typists who use only one or two fingers to type.

Typing accuracy is measured as a % to show the number of words you typed correctly compared to the total number of words typed.

Accuracy

Typing speed is measured in the number of words typed per minute or wpm.

The Benefits

Touch typists use all of their fingers and are less likely to develop Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI) to their soft fingers. Also not looking at the keyboard repeatedly lets them work with a better posture.

Lower health risks

Touch typing trains students to type fast and accurately, without having to look at the keyboard every now and then.
