What is "Parts of Speech"?

Parts of speech are the basic building blocks of the English language as they categorize words based on their functions in a sentence. They help us understand the function of each specific phrase/word in a sentence.

You'll be learning some basic Parts of Speech.

Person: Your friend, your teacher, or your mom are all nouns.


Place: Your school, your home, or a park are nouns.


Thing: Your pet, a book, or your toys are all nouns.


Idea: Love, happiness, or learning are also nouns.

A noun is a naming word. It's a word we use for a person, a place, a thing, or an idea. So, if you can see it, touch it, or talk about it, chances are it's a noun!
