The brain stem connects the rest of the brain to the spinal cord, which runs down your neck and back. It controls the bodys functions such as breathing, digestion and blood circulatlon. Its like the brain's secretary because it sorts through all the messages sent from the 100 billon tiny cells called neurons located throughout the body. They send information from your body to your brain and back again at an incredible 240km per hour - just like a high-speed train.
