Comparative adjectives
Use comparative adjectives to compare two things.
For one-syllable adjectives, add -er and than.
Example:
For one-syllable adjectives which end in one vowel and one consonant, double the last consonant and add -er. Do not double the consonant w.
Example:
Use more before almost all adjectives with two or more syllables. Less is the opposite of more.
Example:
For two-syllable adjectives ending in -y, remove the -y and add -ier.
Example:
Use as + adjective + as to say that two things are similar or the same. Not as ... as means 'less than'.
Example:

Superlative adjective
Use superlative adjectives to compare one thing or person against all others, or all the others in a group.
For one-syllable adjectives, add the and -est. For one-syllable adjectives which end in one vowel and one consonant, double the consonant and add -est. Do not double the consonant w.
Example:
Use the most or the least before almost all adjectives with two or more syllables.
Example:
For two-syllable adjectives ending in -y, remove the -y and add -lest.
Example:
Some adjectives are irregular. Try to memorize their comparative and superlative forms.
