Sea Breeze

Land Breeze
2
Introduction
Take a walk along a dry beach on a hot early afternoon. No sooner than putting your barefoot in the sand, you start hopping and jumping and immediately run towards the sea to soak your scorching feet in the water. Yes, the sun heats both of them up. However, land and water do not heat up or cool down at the same pace. This differential heating and cooling of land and sea give rise to what are known as breezes, in the coastal areas.
3
Introduction
There are two types of breeze:
Sea Breeze
Land Breeze
4
During the day, the sun heats both the sea and land surfaces, with the land warming up faster. This temperature difference creates low pressure over the land and high pressure over the sea. Air flows from the high-pressure area over the sea to the low-pressure area over the land, resulting in the formation of a sea breeze.
***The sea breeze is more noticeable on warm sunny days during the spring and summer.
What Is Sea Breeze?
5
During the night, the cooling process occurs, reversing the pattern created by the sea breeze. As the land and sea cool down after sunset, the land cools faster due. A low-pressure area forms over the sea, where the temperature remains higher than over the land. This temperature difference causes air to flow from the land to the sea, creating what is known as a land breeze.
What Is Land Breeze?
***Land breezes can occur at any time of year but are more prevalent during the fall and winter seasons when water temperatures are still fairly warm and nights are cool.
