Consolidation of Verbs in German

Remind yourself of what an infinitive is:

the verb before it is conjugated.

• it ends in 'en' in German, i.e. spielen (to play), wohnen (to live), lesen (to read)

You first remove the 'en' to conjugate the verb, i.e. to change it to agree with the subject. Then you add the following endings:

ich - e
du - st
er/sie/es - t
wir - en
Sie/sie - en

We have now met lesen, sehen and fahren which are irregular.

Irregular verbs are different in the DU and the ER/SIE/ES forms 

These are the forms to note:

du liest - you read
er/sie/es liest - he/she/it reads

du siehst - you see
er/sie/es sieht - he/she/it sees

du fährst - you go
er/sie/es fährt - he/she/it goes
