We will be learning about Koalas. After this listen we will be taking a test. If you do not know the answers that means you did not listen to my lesson.

What are their predators?

Koala predators include: dingoes, owls, lizards, and people. Koalas sometime get run over by cars. They also die because people cut Eucalyptus trees. Instead of jumping from tree to tree, they walk and dingoes or other predators get them. ( From Google)

What are Koalas?

Koalas are marsupials

Koalas are a type of mammal called marsupials, which give birth to underdeveloped young. They are so different from any other marsupial, however, that they have been classified into their own family, called Phascolarctidae. ( From Google)

How big do these animals get?

On average, koalas are 2 to 3 feet in height. Southern koalas are typically larger than northern koalas. Northern koalas weigh 9 to 19 pounds and southern koalas weigh 15 to 29 pounds. ( From Google)

What do these animals eat.

Koalas eat a variety of eucalypt leaves and a few other related tree species, including lophostemon, melaleuca and corymbia species (such as brush box, paperbark and bloodwood trees). ( From Google)

Where are they from?

Koalas are endemic to Australia, where they can only be found in the southeast and eastern parts of the country, along the coastlines of Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria. They live in forests and open woodlands, typically dominated by eucalyptus tree species. ( from google)
