avoir is used to express things you have

I have stuff. I have fears. I have warmth and chilliness. The idea that the verb "to have" is used to express fears, hunger, thirst,

avoir is an irregular verb

• Avoir peur: J'ai peur (I am afraid)

• Avoir chaud: Tu as chaud (You are warm/hot ***specific to temperature***)

• Avoir froid: Il a froid (He is cold)

• Avoir besoin de: Nous avons besoin d'étudier (We need to study)

• There are two words that cause the meaning to change from positive *yes* to negative *not*. ne... pas = not

• The words ne...pas are placed before and after the conjugated verb (NE...PAS hugs the verb !!!).

• ne becomes n' before a vowel or silent h.
