Basically states that land becomes more expensive the closer you get to the urban center. However, in modern days this isn't always true as suburbs can be very expensive.

There are three major land use models in the US:

- Concentric Model
- Sector Model
- Multiple Nuclei Model

Urban Land Use Models

A larger model of cities that are more spread out and have multiple "mini downtown" areas.
These areas are sometimes called Exurban Nodes.

Galactic Model

Cities like Washington D.C. are outliers from most urban models. Because D.C. is the nation's capital, it was designed and built to show off the country's wealth and power.

Many countries have areas of extreme poverty where the people living in their homes have no legal ownership of the land. These people are called squatters.

Many African cities have three central business district:
1. European Political Sector
2. European Economic Sector
3. Traditional African Market sector

Many southeastern Asian cities are centered around coastal ports because they prioritize trade by sea.
