Deconstructive Criticism

The critic must reveal (deconstruct) the structured world in order to knock out any underpinnings of stereotypes, preconceptions or myths that get in the way of true meaning.

Ideological Criticism

It infers that art is embedded in a social, economic and political structure that determines its final meaning

Formalist criticism

Examines the form of the work as a whole, the form of each individual part of the text (the individual scenes and chapters), the characters, the settings, the tone, the point of view, the diction, and all other elements of the text which join to make it a single text.

Structural Criticism (structuralism)

Structuralism is based on the notion that our concept of reality is expressed through language and related systems of communication.

Psychoanalytic Criticism

Aims to show that a literary or cultural work is always structured by complex and often contradictory human desires.

Feminist criticism

examines the ways in which literature (or artifacts, cultural productions) reinforces or undermines the economic, political social and psychological oppression of women.
