Gilbert the Groundhog
Gilbert the groundhog was a very shy animal. He loved staying inside reading his books and drinking hot cocoa on cold winter days. February 2nd was here and it was one day Gilbert dreaded. He disliked all the attention groundhogs got from the loud cheering crowd. "Why don't you like going to the top?" His mother asked. "Well if I go up there and the rambunctious crowd doesn't see my shadow. they will be mad at me." Gilbert said sadly. "You will never know what will happen unless you try." Gilbert's mom said.
Gilbert decided to try it out and he popped up out of the ground. The crowd looked at Gilbert and they didn't see a shadow. Gilbert froze and almost ran back inside Suddenly, the crowd clapped and cheered.
