PEMDAS Lesson

​Parentheses ( )

• Reading from left to right, always look for parentheses first.

• If you do not start by looking at the equation from left to right, you will get the answer wrong.

• Once you find parentheses then you apply PEMDAS to the equation inside the parentheses.

Multiplication & Division

• Reading from left to right, always look for multiplication or division next.

• Once you find one of them then you solve this part of the equation and write your new equation.

Addition & Subtraction

• We solve the addition or subtraction last.

• Here we have subtraction.

• This is our last step of PEMDAS

Write out everything!

• It should always look like an upside-down triangle.
