Was-Were Structure
When we talk about events or people in the past, the verb "to be" changes. Let's see some examples.
I am a lawyer = Simple Present
I was a lawyer = Simple Past
You are in Istanbul = Simple Present
You were in Istanbul = Simple Past
10
Was-Were Structure
Did you realise that we used two different verbs? Just like we use "is" for singular nouns and "are" for plural nouns in simple present, we use "was" for singular nouns and "were" for plural nouns in simple past.
I
He
She
It, this, that
= Singular
You
We
They
These, those
= Plural

Ahmet: “Oh, definitely! I want to be a teacher. They’re smart and teach us many things. What about you, Elif?”
Elif: “I think being a cook would be amazing. I like helping my mom when she is cooking and I want to cook delicious meals just like her!”
