Plant Cell Organelles

contains the cell's genetic material (DNA) and controls the cell's activities

Nucleus

-stores material such as water, salt, proteins, and carbohydrates
-provides turgor pressure inside cell to give structure to plant

Large Central Vacuole

-helps cell maintain its shape

​

Cytoskeleton

ER = endoplasmic reticulum
-contains enzymes that create membrane lipids & perform detox
*NO ribosomes attached

ER = endoplasmic reticulum
-lipid components of cell membrane assembled here
-export proteins & other materials from cell
*RIBOSOMES attached

​​rough ER

-"powerhouse of the cell"
-aerobic respiration takes place (process of creating energy for the cell)

mitochondria

-site of photosynthesis (sunlight converted to glucose to feed the plant)

chloroplast

-modifies, sorts, and packages proteins from ER

golgi apparatus

produce & transport proteins

Ribosomes

-outermost layer of the cell
-provides strong, supportive protection around the cell membrane
