Role Play (10 minutes)

Work in groups.
Pretend you are in
a restaurant.Draw pictures of items on the menu on separate pieces of paper – meals, drinks and desserts.
One student will be the waiter. The other students will be the customers.
Customers should individually order meals, drinks and desserts from the waiter.
The waiter should write each order, find the correct pictures and then provide a picture of each requested item to each customer, if available.

The customer came to the restaurant to get a service (to order a meal). To get their meals they had to make their request through the waiter.

The waiter writes each order and then goes to the kitchen to get the items ordered from the menu. The waiter either brings back the order if available or gives feedback to the customer if it is not available to the customer.

Having one waiter to service all the groups means there will be a delay before each customer can access the waiter.

If there was more than one waiter for each table, or for each type of item, the service would be faster.
