​Dùng để diễn tả 1 hành động đã xảy ra ở quá khứ

​CÔNG THỨC:

​DẤU HIỆU NHẬN BIẾT

• Yesterday – hôm qua.

• (two days, three weeks…) ago. – hai ngày/ba tuần/… trước.

• Last (year/month/week). – năm/tháng/tuần trước.

• in (2002 – năm cũ/ June – tháng cũ).

• in the last century. – Thế kỷ trước.

• in the past. – trong quá khứ.

Quá khứ tiếp diễn​

​I. CÁCH DÙNG

​1. Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn thường được sử dụng để kể về diễn biến hay quá trình của sự vật, sự việc hoặc thời gian sự vật, sự việc diễn ra ở 1 thời điểm trong quá khứ.

​VD: I was gathering with my friend at this time last year.

​- Giờ này tuần trước?

​- 7h tối qua

​- Ngày này năm ngoái?

2. Thường dùng để kể chuyện đã xảy ra trong

quá khứ.

​VD: The snownboarder was feeling lucky to be alive

​after the dramatic helicopter rescue.

​3. Diễn tả 1 hành động đang xảy ra thì có hành động khác xen vào.

​VD: He was playing video game when he

​fell over the stair.

​II. DẤU HIỆU NHẬN BIẾT

• At + giờ chính xác + thời gian trong quá khứ

• In + năm quá khứ

• Câu có “when” khi diễn tả 1 hành động đang xảy ra thì hành động khác xen vào.

• Câu có sự xuất hiện của 1 số từ/cụm từ đặc biệt: while, at that time

III. CÔNG THỨC​

Khẳng định	S + was/ were + Ving
Phủ định	S + was/ were + not + Ving
Nghi vấn	Was/ were + S + Ving ?

​VD:

​- I was sleeping when my mom hit me.

​- They were not laughing after I told the story.
