What is the difference between panko and tempura fried?
Panko refers to Japanese bread crumbs while tempura is a wet batter. Panko fried items are usually dredged in flour and egg before coating with breadcrumbs and frying. Examples are the fried shrimp in sushi rolls, sesame chicken, and the pork katsu. Tempura items are coated in a premade wet flour based batter before being fried. Examples are the brussels sprouts and dynamite rock shrimp.
