What are materials?

Materials are things that are used to make objects.

Types of Materials

  1. Metals - comes from under the ground.

  2. Wood - comes from trees.

  3. Glass - made from sand.

  4. Rubber - made using latex from rubber trees.

  5. Ceramic - made from clay.

  6. Fabric - made from plants and animals, examples, cotton plant, sheep fur, silkworm.

  7. Plastics - made using oil from deep underground.

  2. Hardness/Hard - cannot be broken or dented

  3. Flexibility - easy to bend

  4. Floating - stay on top of water

  5. Sinking - fall to the bottom of water

    cannot be dissolved in water called insoluble
