What behaviors do you see daily in your classroom?

Students may interrupt the teacher or their peers by talking out of turn, which can disrupt the flow of the lesson.

Some students may engage in activities not related to the lesson, such as doodling, daydreaming, or using electronic devices.External factors such as loud noises from outside the classroom, maintenance work, or disruptions from neighboring classrooms can affect the learning environment.

This includes disrespectful comments towards the teacher or peers, defiance, or disruptive behavior like talking back.

When you catch a student sleeping, the first thing you want to do is wake them up because they are missing the lesson.

What to do about these behaviors?

Recognizing these common disruptions and behaviors can help teachers proactively address them through effective classroom management strategies and interventions to maintain a positive and conducive learning environment.


Ask your administration for resources about the concerning behaviors in your classroom.

​Offering rewards and incentives in your classroom help students stay accountable for their own behavior throughout the day because they want the reward.

Visual and Verbal cues help students stay on task and remember the rules and procedure set in place to then be able to receive their reward.

If you've tried both of the previous methods with not progress, it might be time to talk to your school administration to discuss a possible Behavior Intervention Plan. These plans are set in place to help students that have more difficulty than others managing their behaviors.
