You did it! Now let's recap!
Think back to your project. What steps were easy? What steps were hard? Did you collect good data?
AFDA.8 The student will design and conduct an experiment/survey. Key concepts include
a) sample size;
b) sampling technique;
c) controlling sources of bias and experimental error;
d) data collection; and
e) data analysis and reporting.

Sampling Techniques
Simple Random Sampling: Every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected.
Stratified Sampling: The population is divided into subgroups (or strata) based on certain characteristics, and then samples are randomly selected from each subgroup.
Systematic Sampling: Members of the population are selected at regular intervals from a list or sequence.
4
Multiple Choice
True or False: ALL samples lead to a good prediction about an entire population?
True
False
5
Biased vs. Unbiased Data
A biased sampling method likely does not represent the population. On the other hand, if the sampling method is unbiased, then it represents the population being studied.
6
Multiple Choice
If I asked parents at a basketball game if they liked basketball, would this be a biased or unbiased sample?
Unbiased
Biased
7
Open Ended
Think about who you surveyed. Was your population biased or unbiased?
8
Think of something you could change to make your survey a little more valid or reliable. Let's chat about it in a breakout room.
