Past Continuous or Past Progressive
2
El "past continuous" describe acciones o eventos situados en un tiempo anterior al presente, cuyo comienzo se sitúa en el pasado y que todavía no ha concluido en el momento de hablar. Dicho de otro modo, expresa una acción incompleta o inconclusa del pasado.
The "past continuous" describes actions or events situated in a time prior to the present, whose beginning is in the past and which have not yet concluded at the moment of speaking. In other words, it expresses an incomplete or unfinished action in the past.
3
The gerund is a non-personal form of the verb used to express continuous or ongoing actions. In English, it is formed by adding the ending "-ing" to the base verb. For example, in the sentence "He was swimming", "swimming" is the gerund of the verb "to swim".
