There is a proposal to totally redvelop Dharavi slum in Mumbai. The Slum

Rehabilitiation Authority have already cleared some slums in Mumbai and
rehoused the slum dwellers in high rise blocks of flats.

1.
Every slum structure existing on or prior to 1/1/1995 is eligible for rehabilitation.

2.
Slum dwellers get a self contained 225 sq. ft. (21m2) carpet area tenement free of cost.

3.
The cost of slum dwellers new housing is subsidised by allowing developers to sell EXTRA units
on the housing market

4.
No financial involvement of the government

5.
People’s places of work such as industry will be separate from where they live
