Many people struggle with staying
motivated to exercise regularly.
Lack of time, energy, and
enjoyment can make it difficult to
stick to a workout routine.
However, finding an activity you
genuinely enjoy, setting realistic
goals, and scheduling workouts
like appointments can help
overcome these hurdles and make
exercise a consistent habit.

In the summer of 2012, I decided to
pursue my lifelong dream of learning to
play guitar. First, I spent several weeks
researching different types of guitars and
settled on an acoustic model well-suited
for beginners. Next, I found a local
instructor who specialized in teaching
adults and signed up for weekly lessons.
Over the following months, I diligently
practiced the chords and techniques my
teacher demonstrated. By the end of that
year, I had made remarkable progress
and could play dozens of my favorite
songs from start to finish.

7 While Abbie’s father was away, there
was a huge storm. The waves around
Matinicus Rock got bigger and bigger.
Thinking quickly, Abbie moved her
mother and sisters from their house
into one of the lighthouse towers
where it was safer.

8 Abbie’s family also had chickens. She
loved the chickens very much. They
made her feel less alone on the small
rock she called home. And they
provided eggs for food for her family
as well. Abbie knew she had to save
the chickens. She ran into the rising
water, gathered the chickens into a
basket, and carried them to safety.
