​The idea of the frisbee had been around for a long time, but no one knows exactly when it began. At yale University at Conneticut, the Frisbee Baking Company was a favorite hang-out for students.

They ate snacks of Frisbees pies and used to empty the pie pans afterwards to toss it back and forth. The Yales yell the word "Frisbee" every time they threw the pie pan.

Walter Morison got the idea that plastic disks would be better to throw than metal pans. The first plastic circles were produced in the late 1940s, during the time of UFO mania. They were called "flying saucers" or "Pluto Platters".
