คืออะไรนะ?

Simple Past Tense หรืออดีตกาล ใช้เพื่อบอกให้ทราบถึงสิ่งที่เกิดและเสร็จสิ้นไปแล้ว โดยเวลาของสิ่งที่ถูกพูดถึงเกิดขึ้นนั้นอาจจะพึ่งเกิดและเสร็จ สิ้นไปเมื่อเร็ว ๆ นี้ หรือเกิดและเสร็จสิ้นไปนานแล้วก็ได้

หลักการใช้ Simple Past Tense

1. ใช้เล่าเหตุการณ์ในอดีต ที่จะระบุเวลากำกับ หรือรู้กันดีว่ามันเกิดในอดีต
1.1 เล่าเหตุการณ์ที่มีเวลากำกับ คำกำกับเวลาที่พบบ่อย ได้แก่
– yesterday
– last + เวลา/ วัน/ สัปดาห์/ เดือน/ฤดู/ ปี เช่น last night
– วินาที / นาที/ ชั่วโมง/ วัน/ สัปดาห์/ เดือน/ ปี + ago เช่น ten seconds ago
ตัวอย่างประโยค
- I saw Jane at the bank yesterday.
- I didn’t see Jane at the bank yesterday.
- Did you see Jane at the bank yesterday?

หลักการใช้ Simple Past Tense

1. ใช้เล่าเหตุการณ์ในอดีต ที่จะระบุเวลากำกับ หรือรู้กันดีว่ามันเกิดในอดีต
1.2 เล่าเหตุการณ์ที่ไม่มีเวลากำกับก็ได้แต่รู้กันดีว่าพูดถึงเรื่องในอดีต

Sam : Did you go to the party last night?
Sim: Yes. It was the great party. I drank a lot of cola and ate lots of pizza. I saw Joe and Jane but I didn't see Jim at the party.

2. ใช้เล่ากิจวัตรหรือนิสัยที่เคยทำในอดีต แต่ปัจจุบันนี้ไม่ใช่แล้ว โดยมีคำบ่งบอกความถี่กำกับด้วย คล้ายกับ present simple tense มีคำบ่งบอกความถี่ เช่น always, often, sometimes, never เป็นต้น

หลักการใช้ Simple Past Tense

3. ใช้เล่านิทาน ส่วนใหญ่จะมีคำว่า Long time ago หรือ Once upon a time (นานมาแล้ว)

Once upon a time there were three little pigs. One pig built a house of straw while the second pig built his house with sticks. They built their houses very quickly and then sang and danced all day because they were lazy. The third little pig worked hard all day and built his house with bricks. (นิทานเรื่อง ลูกหมูสามตัว)

การเปล่ี่ยนรูปคำกริยายาเป็น past tense

1. Regular Past Tense Verbs ( กริยาช่องที่ 2 รูปปกติเติม –ed )

1) คำกริยาโดยทั่วไปเมื่อเปลี่ยนเป็นคำกริยาช่องที่ 2 ให้เติม -ed ได้เลย เช่น clean - cleaned, help - helped

2) คำกริยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย e ให้เติม d ได้เลย เช่น live - lived, bake - baked

3) คำกริยาที่เป็นพยางค์เดียว สระเดี่ยว ตัวสะกดตัวเดียว และคำกริยาที่มี 2 พยางค์ ออกเสียงเน้นหนักพยางค์หลัง ให้เพิ่มตัวสะกดอีกหนึ่งตัวแล้วค่อยเติม -ed เช่น stop - stopped, control - controlled

การเปล่ี่ยนรูปคำกริยายาเป็น past tense

1. Regular Past Tense Verbs ( กริยาช่องที่ 2 รูปปกติเติม –ed )

4) คำกริยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย y และหน้า y เป็นพยัญชนะ ให้เปลี่ยน y เป็น i แล้วเติม -ed เช่น cry - cried, try - tried

***แต่ถ้าหน้า y เป็นสระ a ,e, i ,o,u ให้เติม -ed ได้เลย เช่น play – played,
stay – stayed, enjoy – enjoyed

การออกเสียง -ed 

วิธีการออกเสียงท้ายพยางค์ของ -ed มีทั้งหมด 3 แบบ ดังนี้ครับ

• 1. T sound = คำที่ลงท้ายตัวอักษร p, k, gh, s, sh, ch เสียงตอนจบ -ed จะออกเสียงเป็น /t/ เช่น

  • watched /wɒtʃt/

  • missed /mɪst/

  • stopped /stɒpt/

การออกเสียง -ed 

วิธีการออกเสียงท้ายพยางค์ของ -ed มีทั้งหมด 3 แบบ ดังนี้ครับ

• 2. D sound = เมื่อคำลงท้ายด้วยเสียงเช่น /b/, /v/, /z/, /m/, /n/, /η/, /l/, /r/, /g /, /ʒ/ , /dʒ/, /ð/ หรือสระ u, e, a, o, I เสียงสุดท้าย -ed จะออกเสียง /d/ เช่น

  • agree /əˈɡriːd/

  • cried /kraɪd/

  • opened /ˈəʊ.pənd/

การออกเสียง -ed 

วิธีการออกเสียงท้ายพยางค์ของ -ed มีทั้งหมด 3 แบบ ดังนี้ครับ

• 3. ID sound = คำที่ลงท้ายด้วย /t/ หรือ /d/ หรือตัวอักษรที่ลงท้ายด้วยคำว่า t, d -ed จะออกเสียงว่า /id/ เช่น

  • interested /ˈɪn.trəs.tɪd/

  • wanted /ˈwɒn.tɪd/

  • needed /ˈniː.dɪd/

หมายถึง กริยาช่องที่ 1 ที่เปลี่ยนเป็นช่องที่ 2 โดยไม่เติม –ed แต่จะเปล่ี่ยนแปลงรูป หรือคงรูปเดิม เช่น wake - woke, beat - beat, think - thought
