  • A run-on sentences is when two simple sentences are put together without the correct punctuation.

    • Adam is a sweet boy he really loves animals.

  • The easiest way to correct a run-on sentence is to make it two simple sentences.

WRITING – COMPOUND SENTENCES​

  • Compound sentences put two simple sentences together using conjunctions.

    • She needs a new jacket, but she wants a new watch.

  • Conjunctions are linking words like and, or, but, so

    • And shows added information.

      • Rob and Sara go to the library, and they study for three hours.

    • But shows something different or a contrast.

      • I work on Saturday, but I don't work on Sunday.

    • So shows the result

      • Kim misses her family, so she calls them every weekend.

    • Or shows two different choices.

      • I can save my money, or I can buy a new dress.​​

​For now, focus on AND and BUT.
