あります (arimasu) and ありません (arimasen)
In Japanese, あります (arimasu) and ありません (arimasen) are used to indicate whether something exists/is present or not. It is typically used for non-living things like objects, places, or events.
あります (arimasu)
grammar → 〇〇 が あります (..... ga arimasu)
translation: There is/are ..... or I have ......
Example:
ほん が あります
Hon ga arimasu
This sentence can mean "There is a book" or "I have a book," depending on the context.
Important note:
Use あります (arimasu) for things that exist
〜ます (....masu) is the positive form of verbs in the polite form. It is used to indicate that an action does happen.
ありません (arimasen)
grammar → 〇〇 が ありません (..... ga arimasen)
translation: There isn't/aren't ..... or I don't have ......
Example:
ほん が ありません
Hon ga arimasen
This sentence can mean "There isn't a book" or "I don't have a book," depending on the context.
Important note:
