Technological Innovation

Intended vs unintended consequences:

The intended consequences are positive effects such as improved communication, education,
healthcare, and transportation. Typically, technological innovations also increase overall efficiency,
saving time, money, or both.

negative effects that were not anticipated during the development of the new technology

Railroads: good for moving things across great distances and connected the East to the West in
America BUT it also led to large loss of buffalo

Steamboats: could also transport people and goods BUT they also polluted waterways and
destroyed river banks
