SENTENCE?

DEFINITION
Conditional sentences are used to express a
situation that has a possible outcome or
something that is difficult/ impossible to happen.
They often include an "if" clause (the condition)
and a main clause (the result).

Form: if + Simple Present, simple present tense
Example:
If we heat the water, it boils
If it is rain, it is wet
If I eat a lot, I gain weight

= It is possible and also very likely that the condition will be fulfilled.
(Pengandaian yang besar kemungkinan bisa terwujud disaat ini atau nanti, jika syarat
terpenuhi: possible conditional.
Form:
if + Simple Present, simple future
Simple future + If + Simple present
Example:
If I find her address, I will send her an invitation.
I will go around the word, If I have a lot of money

(Pengandaian yang berlawanan dengan fakta sekarang, kemungkinan kecil bisa
terwujud = improbable conditional).
Form:
if + Simple Past, Simple past future
Simple past future + If + Simple past
Example:
If I were Cinderella, I would be happy
I would be happy If I were Cinderella
Fact: I’m not a cinderella

IF I WERE YOU . . .
In the present unreal condition, the form “was” is not considered grammatically
correct. In written English or in testing situations, you should always use “were”
For example:
If she were rich, she would buy a car (Correct)
If she was rich, she would buy a car (Wrong)
Another example of “WERE”
If I were you, I would always love her. (Jika saya jadi kamu, Saya akan selalu
mencintainya)
If I were you, I would save the world. (Jika saya seorang supermen, Saya akan
menjaga bumi ini)

= It is impossible that the condition will be fulfilled because it refers to the past.
(Pengandaian yang berlawanan dengan fakta lampau, tidak mungkin bisa terwujud =
impossible conditional).
