NOUNS

Nouns are names of people, animals, things, birds etc..

There are mainly five type of nouns.

• Common nouns

• Proper nouns

• Abstract nouns

• Collective nouns

• Material nouns

COMMON NOUNS

A common noun is a name given in common to every person or thing of the same class or kind

Example:

• Man

• Woman

• Boy

• Girl

• Horse

• Dog

PROPER NOUNS

A Proper noun is the special name of a particular person or place or an animal

Example: Riya

In this sentence we are telling that this is Riya specifically

• JOHN

ABSTRACT NOUNS

An Abstract noun is the name of something that we can only think of

These nouns are uncountable nouns { Nouns which we can't count}

Example:

• Childhood

• Freedom

• Wisdom

• Hatred

etc....

COLLECTIVE NOUNS

A Collective noun is the name of a number of people or things considered as one; as,

• Herd

• Flock

• Crowd

• Team

• Army

etc...

MATERIAL NOUNS

Material Noun are names of materials or substances out of which things are made. Example:

• Gold

• Iron

• Silver

• Wood

etc...

• This bat is made of Wood
