De esta manera denominamos lenguaje denotativo al sentido

 estricto o literal de una oración y lenguaje connotativo a aquello que quiere decir realmente.

El contexto en el que se emite una idea es de gran ayuda para poder descifrar su sentido connotativo.

Las figuras literarias son creaciones lingüísticas que encarnan de modo perfecto la connotación y la denotación.
