Key terms to know…
Transversal: A line that intersects two or more lines at distinct
points.
Parallel lines: Lines in a plane that do not intersect.
Corresponding angles: Angles in matching corners when a transversal crosses parallel lines.
•Alternate interior angles: Angles on opposite sides of the
transversal but inside the parallel lines.
•Alternate exterior angles: Angles on opposite sides of the
transversal but outside the parallel lines.
•Consecutive interior angles: Angles on the same side of the
transversal and inside the parallel lines.
7
Corresponding Angles
·Two angles that have corresponding positions.
When two lines are parallel, corresponding angles are congruent.
Alternate Interior Angles
·Two angles that lie between the two lines and on opposite sides
of the transversal.
When two lines are parallel, alternate interior angles are congruent.
Alternate Exterior Angles
·Two angles that lie outside the two lines and on opposite sides
of the transversal.
When two lines are parallel, alternate exterior angles are congruent.
Same Side Interior Angles
·Two angles that lie between the two lines and on the same side
of the transversal.
When two lines are parallel, same side exterior angles are
supplementary.
What does this mean?
8
Classify the angle pair as corresponding, alternate interior, alternate
exterior, or same side interior angles.

Labelling
Label the correct number with the correct variable answer.
x = 9
x = 56
x = 32
x = 8
x = 16
x = 36
x = 6
x = 7
12
Labelling
Label the variable to the correct picture. For number 6, label the correct x in the first box and y in the second box.
x = 4
x = 45°
x = 2
x = 3
x = 6
y = 85°
x = 85°
y = 50°
y = 45°
x = 50°
