Born into luxury as the son of a noble family, kept sheltered and trained to be a warrior and ruler

by 16 he was married and soon had a child

by his late 20s he began to take note of the suffering and hardship of the ordinary people

casting aside his wealth and status he dedicated himself to finding a "cure for suffering"
