Lets Start Drafting Your Portfolio

On the next slide you are going to choose your topic for your portfolio (if you haven't already). Remember you TOPIC is what you will need the SKILLS to accomplish.

Example: If my topic is "running a marathon" or "how to train for a marathon" I will then talk about the skills it will take you to achieve the topic/goal.

a. Perseverance - training each day even when you don't want to
b. Dedication - making sure to eat healthy every day to stay in shape by making healthy meals
c. Getting help - getting a coach or trainer to help you meet your goal

What is the TOPIC for your portfolio going to be?

REMEMBER this is NOT the skills you will need in order to meet your goal. JUST the TOPIC.

Why is your topic important?

Why did you choose this topic?

Why do you feel this topic (goal) is important?

Why should people know how to do this?

This is what you will put in the "background information section"

In the chat, send me 3 skills for your topic.

DO NOT just copy from the previous slide.

15

Now that you have three skills we are going to create your thesis statement.

Remember - your thesis statement is just that, a statement. Not a question.

It should state your topic and your three skills/points.

If my topic is making new friends (or how to make new friends) and my skills are communication, confidence, and event planning then my thesis statement would look something like this:

In order to make new friends you need to have three important things to help you; communication skills, confidence, and event planning skills.
