A. Descriptive Text

Descriptive text is text that describes the characteristics of a person, animal, place, object, etc. In describing several things, descriptive text is identical to the use of adjectives with a present tense sentence structure.

B. Purpose of Descriptive Text

The purpose of descriptive text is to describe an object in detail. These objects can be people, animals, objects, or places.

C. Structure Descriptive Text

The structure of descriptive text consists of two parts, namely identification and description.

a.  Identification; (introduction). Contains identification of the object to be described.

b. Description; (detailed explanation). Generally, descriptive text is written using simple Present. Descriptive text consists of several paragraphs containing the characteristics of something or someone.

D. Language Features of Descriptive Text

1. Adjective

Adjectives are words that describe the nature of an object. For example, is the object round, square, black, red, big, small, cold or hot and etc.

2. Simple Present Tense

Simple Present is a tense that is used to tell an event that is happening at that time in a simple form. The function of the simple present tense is to state facts, habits, or events that are happening at that time.

The language features of descriptive text consist of three, namely adjective, Simple Present Tense.
